The town Xiamen (Amoy) has some famous places of interest, e.g. the Gulangyu Island only a few minutes away from Xiamen (by boat), known for its colonial architecture as well as the Nanputuo-Temel (Buddhist).

The She are the largest minority group in the province. 47 minority ethnic groups live in Fujian province, e.g. the Hui, Miao and Manchu. Fujian has close relations to Taiwan. Fujian has been part of China since the Qin-Dynasty. Fujian province had early contacts with the Arabian world.
